Norm Boucher   Crystalline Glazes

In February 2021 the Muddy Waters Mudder of the Month display will comprise of the beautiful ceramic work of Norm Boucher. Norm has developed a unique crystalline glaze technique which transforms his pottery into wonderful works of art. This technique produces colorful frost-like crystals on each piece. Special kiln firings are necessary to unlock the crystal formations in the glaze. Norm is a studio member living in Duluth and he has worked in clay since the mid- 70's.   Norm's work will be celebrated in a closing event Thursday & Friday March 4 & 5 from 4-7 PM and Saturday March 6 from 10-4.  Thank you!

Ed Olson    Norway and Beyond

Ed Olson is a PHD chemist, a St. Olaf alum, and a musician. He and his wife Betty have lived in Grand Forks for many years.  After retirement, Ed began developing a habit of creating with clay. And we are happy he did! He is using his knowledge of chemistry to explore various glazes and firing methods. And he is combining that with his love of the old country: Norway. Ed and Betty love to travel and as they do he collects semiprecious stones. He utilizes these in his creations as well.  When you come to the Muddy Waters Clay Center front gallery in March you can take a trip with Ed via his pots! Thank you!
